It’s been a busy month for the BBG team! On October 1st, as promised, your administrative board, along with focus chairs Terry Willis and Caroline Rowe, met to review and launch our Group’s new operating model.
This model is built solely on feedback from members, former members, potential members and all of our other stakeholders. Many thanks go to our strategy partner, Barclays, whose support during the 11 month in-depth strategy review and implementation process has resulted in us now being fully prepared for the road ahead.
The four key tenets of our strategy moving forward are: Value Proposition: How we enable you, our members, to succeed in business – through unique early access to business opportunities and market intelligence, as well as key decision makers and our partnership with HM Government. Membership Engagement: A fit-for-purpose business team resource for the go-to business group in the region, with a clear member benefits package, and flexible and attractive pricing. Collaboration: The essence of our strategy through to 2021 and beyond is about widening the stakeholder group, for events, intelligence and opportunities, whilst firmly aligning with HMG regional strategy to promote British business. Operational Excellence: As a not-for-profit business group, we want to ensure the most efficient delivery of initiatives, services, and support to fulfil member requirements.
Our #member4member campaign really kicks in now. The benefit(s) of being a member will be just that! The highlights of which include early access opportunities, market intelligence and bespoke value-add events – along with a smattering of social to sooth our minds! Still looking for more? Take a look at the top ten member benefits listed here, as identified by you – our members!
A great example of the social element of our Group, and of our strategic pillar of collaboraton, is our Battle of the Business Councils Golf Day taking place right now! We currently have well over a hundred players out on the fairway of Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club, and many more due to arrive this evening for the celebrations afterwards! Our BBG Dubai & Northern Emirates team is battling against our greatest collaboration partner, BBG Abu Dhabi, as well as teams from American Business Council, Australian Business Council and the Canadian Business Council, and we wish them the best of luck! Special thanks to our pearl sponsor and sponsor of the fabulous Greg Norman shirts this year, JacksonMSV, as well as event partners Barclays, Emirates, Pro Partner Group, Jumeirah Group, Virtuzone, DSV Global Transport & Logistics, Getty Images, IP Global, Renaissance Downtown Hotel, MMI, Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club, and Ego Digital Marketing for all of their support.
So, your administrative board, business team and supporting partners such as Samantha Dancy ofFootstep Communications are poised to help you, whether as an individual or company member, to reap real, relevant and tangible benefits from your membership. We know that time is your most precious commodity, and that there is tough competition for it, and we are therefore determined to make every second count.
Between now and the end of this calendar year we enjoy the company of Farah Flisher (formerly of Barclays, and the project manager who has been assisting the business team during the strategy review and implementation process) to lead and enhance our business team and recruit for a newly created position of General Manager for the group moving forward. Further to my message of last week concerning the departure of Joanne Laverty from the business team, I would like to reiterate my personal thanks and appreciation – and that on behalf of all members – for the great work she undertook with such positivity and enthusiasm over the past few years. We wish her well for future endeavours – who knows, maybe a BBG member company will be fortunate enough to secure her services in the future.

BBG Predicts Resurgence in Traditional Networking for 2020
We continue to see higher levels of attendance at our networking events month on month, suggesting that businesses are revisiting the opportunity and value in the direct relationship between face to face networking and business success.
The year is fast approaching to a close and the last three months have been at such pace that it’s only when I look back on what we have achieved as a business group that it makes sense as to why the Christmas break will be so well deserved!
