I am the Sector Lead for the Creative Industries and Experience Economy at the UK Department for International Trade (DIT) in the UAE, a role I took on in May 2019 after having been part of Her Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for the Middle East, Afghanistan and Pakistan Simon Penney’s regional team.
Before moving to the UAE and joining the British Embassy in Dubai, I was based in Ireland where I worked in roles across Marketing and Business Development in the dynamic Tech-Sector. I grew up and studied International Relations in the Netherlands and spent time training at the Netherlands Embassy in Sri Lanka.
DIT’s primary function is to enable increased UK trade in to the UAE and encourage investment in the UK, be that through contacts, networking and lobbying, promoting the UK Export Finance offer and looking at market access issues. In the Creative Industries, I works closely with architects, designers and creative technologists. I am keen to work closely with the BBG and the British business community to make sure that young professionals are in the best possible position to win work in the UAE.’
