LINEN OBSESSION LAUNCHES “LINEN RECYCLING PROGRAM” TO SUPPORT GIRLS STAYING IN SCHOOL FULL TIME
Date Posted:Wed, 29th Nov 2023
Linen Obsession is proud to introduce our Linen Recycling Program. The recycling program will collect used duvet covers, sheets, and towels from our Linen Obsession customers, as well as the general community. The clean, used linen collected will be transformed into reusable, washable sanitary pads, and delivered along with sturdy school backpacks to support the Jumeirah English Speaking School’s “Period Empowerment Project”.
“Period Empowerment Project” helps empower girls to stay in full-time education, regardless of circumstances, and to increase awareness of personal health education for girls. It provides them with the tools they need to continue their education uninterrupted and will create a positive impact on the lives of girls living in Zambia, Cambodia, and earthquake-affected regions of Turkey and Syria.
Pamela Lilburne Opie, CEO and Founder of Linen Obsession said: "By extending our support to JESS and their Period Empowerment Project, we aim to provide a sustainable solution to allow girls to attend school full-time, whilst also promoting environmental responsibility. We have been excited to witness the very positive impact that supply of washable sanitary pads can make on their education. These girls now have the chance to get an A grade pass as they do not need to miss lessons each month. We encourage the community to join us in this great cause."
Those who donate their selected used bedlinen & towels can receive a 10% discount on any order they make with Linen Obsession.
Linen Obsession welcomes individuals and households to participate by simply donating their used duvet covers, sheets, and towels. Darker colored and printed fabrics are preferred for this recycling program, although any colours will be accepted. Your contributions will make a significant difference to the lives of girls in underprivileged regions, whilst contributing to the overall well-being of our planet.
SUITABLE ITEMS TO DONATE:
Clean, used duvet covers and sheets, bath towels and bath sheets. Cotton or cotton blend items are preferred. Darker colours are better, as they will not show marks from possibly unclean local washing water, although any colours can be accepted.
We cannot accept the following items as they cannot be used for the program: pillowcases, comforters, cushions, face cloths, hand towels or bathmats.
HOW TO DONATE:
Kindly note that only suitable items will be accepted, as listed above.
