HMTC Simon Penney Resigns After Five Years in Role.

HMTC Simon Penney has resigned as the UK’s Trade Commissioner to the Middle East after five years in role. Announced this week, Simon said it was time to “pass the reins on”.

“It has been without doubt one of the biggest privileges I have had, representing the UK in such a dynamic region,” Simon said in a post on LinkedIn.

Speaking on behalf of the British Business Group Dubai and Northern Emirates - Board and Business team, John Martin St. Valery OBE, Board Director for Government Relations, British Business Group Dubai and Northern Emirates said, “We are highly appreciative of the support we have received from Simon and wish him the very best for his next venture. Simon’s contribution to the success of the UK's positioning from within the UAE and across GCC cannot be underestimated – always going above and beyond to ensure that the UK is seen as a partner of choice across the region. Simon’s tenure has been integral in establishing G2G relations that have only benefited our BBG members. Simon is also extremely approachable and his warmth and sincerity in building relationships has also been key in influencing key initiatives to benefit our members and stakeholders”.
