BCB’s May Newsletter: Presidential succession / growing team / UAE business guide

Latest developments and opportunities including; our growing team, presidential succession, construction sector digitalisation and UAE's doing business guide that could be of potential interest to UK companies.

The UAE is currently in a 40-day official mourning period to mark the death of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler of Abu Dhabi and President of the UAE. The swift accession of his brother, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to both leadership roles represents total continuity and whilst it would be glib to suggest ‘business as usual’ at such a time, this succession does illustrate the very stable nature of the UAE’s political system and the strong foundation provided by the federal constitutional structure established with the country in 1971.

Although our own history only stretches back to 2013, as the team update we share here shows, we continue to add experience and quality across the staff and we now have more than 120 years’ of regional business experience in our ranks, drawn from 12 different nationalities. This in itself is very representative of the UAE’s multi-national business environment and means that, as well as our local expertise, we also have significant regional credentials spanning Africa, the wider Middle East, India and Asia that we bring to our work.

Our colleague Elena recently returned to our UK office after an 8-month secondment in Dubai managing various Expo 2020 projects and she’s signing off here with a really good information piece on how to do business in the UAE which will be useful to both seasoned exporters and those of you new-to-market.
