The British University in Dubai Expands it's Industry Links

The British University in Dubai (BUiD) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Siemens

 

The MoU enables BUiD to deliver training on Siemens’ state-of-the-art solutions in the UAE with the possibility of expanding to the entire GCC region.

The MoU was signed at BUiD’s campus by Professor Abdullah Alshamsi, the Vice Chancellor, and Dr Fuad Al Attar, Senior Vice President, Customer Services - Digital Industries at Siemens Middle East. Also present were Hugh Martin FRSA, Registrar and Chief Administrative Officer and Fatma Duman, Training Manager- Siemens Middle East.

BUiD will be the focal point of this agreement to provide training across the nation, and direction and guidance to Siemens in the development of their training programmes. This collaboration allows Siemens’ experts to engage with BUiD’s Faculty of Engineering and IT to deliver high-end training to industrial professionals seeking Siemens courses.

BUiD signed an agreement with the British Council to be a Testing Point Partner for IELTS. BUiD is the first university in the MENA region adopting the IELTS Testing Point model. The agreement was signed by Professor Abdullah Alshamsi, the Vice Chancellor, and Aida Salamanca MBE, British Council Country Director, UAE and a member of BUiD’s University Council. Also present were Hugh Martin FRSA, Registrar and Chief Administrative Officer and Deep Adhikari, Director, British Council Examinations Gulf South Cluster.

Commenting on the strategic partnership, Aida Salamanca MBE said: “The British Council is dedicated to supporting the development of the English language across the country. We look forward to working with The British University in Dubai to prepare tomorrow’s future leaders with the English skills they need to fulfil their academic ambitions and compete in a global workforce.”

BUiD participates in the UK National Day celebrations at the UK pavilion in Expo 2020                             
Representing The British University in Dubai, Hugh Martin FRSA, Registrar and Chief Administrative Officer, attended the UK National Day VIP celebration held at the UK pavilion at Expo2020. The event was graced by the presence of HRH Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge.

During the day, the United Kingdom arranged more than 30 activities across the Expo site. Those moments included the formal ceremonial celebrations for the day with the raising of the UK flag, bilateral celebrations with the UAE, a major promotion of the forthcoming Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and two evening events at the Al Wasl Dome and Jubilee Park. The programme for the day includes performances by the Band of the Coldstream Guards, the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, emerging artists showcasing all genres of UK music, performers of poetry jam called Beatfreeks, live theatre, puppetry, the very best food and drink curated by Chef Vineet in association with Living Hospitality and 1851 restaurant. UK sport will be represented on the Expo site with ambassadors from British Cycling, the Rugby League World Cup and rugby personalities. To celebrate the Commonwealth Games, the Queen’s Baton Relay also visited Expo on the day.
