Use a toothpaste that contains hydroxyapatite 
The one tip our Dental Hygienist Hilary Browne loves giving her patients is using a toothpaste containing the ingredient hydroxyapatite, which she states can make a significant difference. Hydroxyapatite is a biocompatible material naturally occurring in our teeth, bones, and saliva. It is used by our saliva to remineralise our teeth. Using hydroxyapatite-infused toothpaste can make your teeth stronger, smoother, healthier and more resistant to hot and cold food and drink. 

Safeguard root canal treated teeth
Our General Dentist Dr Mette Mop advises patients who have had a root canal treatment to safeguard their treated teeth by placing a crown over them. Root canal treated teeth become fragile and break more easily. Hence, to protect the tooth from damage, Dr Mette urges her patients to have a crown placed as soon as possible.

The right way to floss
Our Dental Hygienist Marelize Maree explains the importance of flossing and how brushing alone isn’t enough to clean your teeth. Food particles tend to get stuck between teeth and can be stubborn to remove with a brush. This is where flossing comes into play. She says to floss right one must wrap the floss around our middle fingers, with our thumb and index finger holding the floss. Make sure you are not popping the floss straight into your gum as it could hurt your gum. Wrap the floss around your tooth, hugging the sides sliding underneath the gumline until the floss disappears between the gum and the tooth surfaces. Floss every day to maintain good oral health for life.
