Our thanks to BBG Member OneSpace for bringing together the BBG & Khaleej Times to partner on an interactive knowledge share for BBG members to better understand and discuss the impact of Web 3.0 and Dubai Metaverse strategy on British businesses in the UAE.

As we saw in previous shifts of technological and digital advancement like the birth of the internet (Web 1), the next wave of digital disruption has been unleashed on business communities globally and traditional business models are being challenged. “Play to Earn” “Learn to Earn” and “Watch to Earn” are new business models in operation now with earnings being generated in digital crypto currencies which can be exchanged for physical cash all underpinned by block chain technologies.

The age of big tech offering free platform use to capture user data which is then used to monetize without the consent of or benefit to users is coming to an end (Web 2). Internet time spent by users will now be monetized (tokenised) and personal user data will be controlled and sold by the user and not the tech companies (Web 3.0)

Couple to this new iteration of the internet, the newly launched Dubai Metaverse Strategy by the Crown Prince of Dubai which positions a $4 billion contribution to the economy and the creation of 40,000 new jobs by 2030, the question we aim to answer is “is your business ready for the next generation of the internet and how can you create value in the Metaverse?”

Join us for some fun facts about the space, learn how Khaleej Times the UAE’s number 1 and first English speaking newspaper is pivoting to adapt to the new digital revolution and finally, some thought provoking discussions on how your business can benefit from the new wave of digital disruption.
