Last November, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed
bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler
of Dubai, launched the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, which aims to make
Dubai a global centre of clean energy and green economy. One of the programmes
goals is to provide 75 per cent of the emirate’s energy through clean energy
sources by 2050, reflecting a commitment to the establishment of a sustainable
model in energy conservation which can be exported to the whole world and
support economic growth without damaging the environment or natural resources.
“Our goal is to become the city with the
least carbon footprint in the world by 2050," Sheikh Mohammed said.
This statement was followed with DEWA (Dubai
Electricity & Water Authority) announcing renewable energy projects worth
almost $10bn on January 1st of this year.
This event will provide an overview of this
programme and highlight:
* upcoming large scale projects in Dubai in line with Dubai Expo 2020 and
Vision 2021;
* details of current and upcoming tenders in different sectors of DEWA;
* business opportunities available from DEWA in Dubai over the coming
years.
About the Speaker
Dr. Yousef Ebrahim Al Akraf Al Suwaidi holds both an MBA and a PhD in Educational and
Training Techniques from OhioState University. He is a Certified Master Lead
Assessor from the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) and a
member of the American Society for Training and Development.
As Executive
Vice President – Business Support & HR in DEWA, he is responsible for
leading and directing all business support and human resources functions in
line with the organisation’s strategic and operational targets and activities.
In
addition to his role with DEWA, Dr. Yousef is also Chairman of Dubai Quality
Group, member of the Institute of Applied Technology’s Board of Trustees, board
member of the Abu Dhabi Vocational Education and Training Institute (ADVETI),
board member of “Mai Dubai”, member of the Executive Council’s Health and
Safety Committee, Vice Chairman of the WETEX organizing Committee, Vice
Chairman of the Dubai Global Energy Forum, Chairman of the World Green Economy
Summit (event & logistics), member of the British University in Dubai’s
Council, and member of the Program Advisory Board of the MBA program offered by
the College of Business Studies at Al Ghurair University.
