It’s going to be a hectic week in the capital, as the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference (ADIPEC) takes over the city once again from 13th - 16th November with the theme ‘Forging ties, driving growth’.

This year is set to be even bigger and better - building on the success of previous years to continue the record-breaking trend. With a key focus on increasing minister to global business leader strategic dialogue, we anticipate there to be more than 45 minister and CEO sessions at this years event, with over 100,000 oil and gas professionals from 135 countries attending.

2017 is also a record breaking year for us here at the Energy Industries Council (EIC) as we host the biggest ever UK pavilion in the last twenty years, since our involvement in the event began. Over 50 companies will be exhibiting the innovative products and services which the UK oil and gas industry is famous for worldwide.

The fact that ADIPEC continues to go from strength to strength, even during these tough times, is a testament to the resilience of the Middle East market, one of the few areas worldwide that continues to see deals being signed and projects moving forward. This is backed up by our world leading CAPEX project database, EICDataStream, which is tracking 270 projects proposed or under development in the six GCC countries, worth more than US$500bn collectively.

Our participation at ADIPEC is just one of many ways in which we support UK investment in the region and trade between the Middle East and the UK. On 12th December we’re hosting a Middle East Opportunities with Petrofac event in Dubai. Looking ahead to next year, we will be hosting the newly formed Wood Plc (the brand resulting from the takeover of Amec Foster Wheeler by the Wood Group) on 23rd January in Abu Dhabi, they will also be featured within the UK Group as well as sponsoring the official UK Reception taking place on the 14th.  We’ll also be holding our ever-popular Middle East Golf Tournament on 1st March, while our flagship EIC Connect Oil & Gas UAE conference and exhibition returns to Abu Dhabi on 17th April. This year’s edition made worldwide headlines with the opening address being provided by UAE Minister of Energy HE Suhail Al Mazrouei.

I wish everyone involved a successful ADIPEC 2017. To anyone coming down to the exhibition, please take the time to visit as many companies in the UK pavilion as possible - we look forward to seeing you!
