On Friday 13th October 2017, over 400 guests, including fellow members, family and friends celebrated the 30th anniversary of the British Business Group, Dubai & Northern Emirates on the Royal Lawn of The British Embassy in Dubai.

BBG Dubai has been privileged to be supported by the British Embassy since 1987 and throughout our history, even providing us a home in their compound. The joint efforts between the operations teams of both the British Embassy and the BBG was always going to produce an event of superlative standards - and so it did...

HM Consul General, Paul Fox, welcomed families whilst outlining the twin track strategy of both the Embassy and BBG teams to promote, encourage and deliver significant growth to UK/UAE reciprocal trade targets.

We would like to sincerely thank everyone who supported us, those of you who joined us on the day, and those wishing us well from afar. Despite being a little on the toasty side, everyone embraced the spirit of the occasion, and it was great to see so many families enjoying the entertainment, sports and refreshments.

Our key partners for the event deserve full credit for supporting us and enabling the day to take place, thanks again to IG, MMI, British Airways, 1762 and Canvas & Wood.

The event would also not have been possible without the supporting partnership of Hilton Dubai Jumeirah, who provided truly Great British delights (my particular highlight was the Cornish pasties, as any of you following me on Twitter may have seen!) Together with Monty, 1762’s unmistakable green double decker bus, who provided us with a delightful afternoon tea, Elvis (Ghaf Kitchen’s silver food truck which provided a range of delectable desserts), Bulldog Gin, Strongbow, and Dukes Dubai (who produced a fantastic birthday cake), we were kept well fed and watered throughout the evening.

Thanks also go to Flying Elephant Events, CBD Consultancy, AIG, 20/20 Productions, 800 Party Rentals, ESM (who ran the sports clinics), Crown Relocations, Links Group, Lloyds, Custard, McGettigans, Hard Rock Café and AMS.

On behalf of the children (and some of the adults) we would like to thank British Mums Dubai for bringing Magic Phil along for a spell binding performance, and The Boxtones and DJ Danny Cee for giving us the chance to dance the night away.

We may pride ourselves on being the region’s foremost business to business membership networking group, but it’s not all about business, it’s about community, social interactions, and family, and this could not have been more aptly demonstrated than at the Great British Day Out.

This wonderful community occasion was the first in a series of 30th anniversary events and initiatives tailored to all member demographics, and I truly believe that the reinvigorated BBG campaign of ensuring all activities for the group are delivered by members for the benefit of members is gathering momentum.

If you have any feedback, please do share with us, and keep an eye out on our BBG Online Facebook page for the pictures and video, which will be shared this weekend!
