From Dubai Chamber - New UAE Commercial Companies Law: Key Features, Changes and Compliance

The new UAE Commercial Companies Law which came into effect on 1st July 2015 introduced important changes to be applied on companies especially limited liability companies, established in the United Arab Emirates. The new law gives recognition to concepts and presents opportunities for innovative structures that might not have been previously possible.

Article 374 of the new law gave companies that were already in existence until 30 June 2016 to amend their Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association to achieve compliance with the new requirements. In June 2016, the Ministery of Economy extended this compliance deadline for existing companies by one more year.
