An in-depth report on MSME finance was shared with BBG members giving insights on finance landscape for 95 per cent of Dubai companies.
MSMEs (defined by the Dubai Department of Economic Development as having less than 250 persons or less than 250 million AED turnover) are 95% of the companies operating in Dubai. In 2008, Dun and Bradstreet reported the MSME share of bank lending the UAE was 4%. In 2014, how many companies are looking for early stage financing? How many are successful? And what are they doing to improve their chances?
A team of MBA students from the Middle East Centre of Manchester Business School have selected this topic to find some answers and bring academic rigor and business experience to a subject that almost all companies will consider through their lifecycle.
The BBG SME and Finance groups are jointly supporting this initiative and believe it will provide a detailed and informative understanding of an important business issue.
