The BBG welcomes The Rt Hon Alistair Burt MP and a cross-party delegation of British MPs for a networking breakfast to meet with members and hear about British businesses in the UAE. Alistair Burt, who served as Middle East Minister between 2010 and 2013, is leading the delegation in his capacity as Chairman of the UAE All Party Parliamentary Group (the equivalent of a friendship group for Parliamentarians). The MPs are guests of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and will visit Dubai and Abu Dhabi during a four day stay where they will meet with senior Government Ministers.

The Rt Hon Alistair Burt MP served as Middle East Minister between 2010 and 2013. In this role he co-founded the UK-UAE task force, which has now met at Ministerial level 16 times. He is the current Chairman of the UAE All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG). Alistair entered Parliament in 1983 and is the current MP for North East Bedfordshire. Alistair Burt has also served in Government as a Health Minister and Minister for the Disabled.

Edward Argar MP entered Parliament in May 2015. He is the Conservative MP for Charnwood. He is currently the Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Minister of State for Education and the Vice Chairman of the APPG on Yemen. After leaving Oxford University Edward spent four years working as an adviser on foreign affairs to the Conservative party. He was previously a management consultant at international infrastructure company, Mouchel, which has offices in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Mike Gapes MP has been the Labour MP for the London constituency of Ilford South since 1992. He is a long serving member of the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Select Committee, serving as its Chairman between 2005 and 2010. He has also served on the House of Commons Defence Committee. He is currently Secretary of the APPG on Kurdistan and is a member of the APPG on Drones.
Brendan O’Hara MP is the Scottish National Party’s Defence Spokesman. He was elected an MP for the constituency of Argyll and Bute in May 2015. He was previously a TV producer and has been nominated for a Scottish BAFTA in the Current Affairs category. The Trident nuclear submarines are based in his constituency.

James Heappey MP has been the Conservative MP for the constituency of Wells since May 2015. He was previously a member of the House of Commons Energy and Climate Change Select Committee. Prior to entering Parliament, James was a Major in the British Army and served on operations in Afghanistan, Iraq, Kenya, and Northern Ireland over a ten-year career. Heappey also worked for the Secretary of State for International Trade Liam Fox before entering Parliament.
Nus Ghani MP has been the Conservative MP for Wealden since May 2015. She is the first Muslim female MP in the Conservative Party’s history. She has been a member of the House of Commons Home Affairs Committee since July 2015. She previously worked for a number of charities and the BBC World Service.

Antoinette Sandbach MP has been the Conservative MP for Eddisbury since May 2015. She was previously a member of the House of Commons Energy and Climate Change Select Committee. She was previously a member of the Welsh Assembly, and in 2014 she was appointed Shadow Welsh Assembly Minister for the Environment. Prior to her political career, she worked in London as a barrister for over a decade.
